The Selection Main Character

Don't Read If Unless You Have Read Until Chapter 9

The main character in The Selection is America Singer. She is the oldest left in her family of children. She takes care of her younger siblings and does a lot of work for them. Since she is the oldest though she has to sign up for the selection of being the next princess. She has a lot to do that she doesn't want to do that includes having to end things with Aspen.

Aspen and America were amazing. They were in love and always snuck out to see each other. They were true lovers, until Aspen broke up with America. He broke up with America so she could have a chance of marring Prince Maxon and not have to be with her true love in caste 6, which is only 1 caste below America.

America then goes off to leave for The Selection to start but she ends up looking for Aspen in the crowd and sees him with another girl. He looks so happy and like he is having the time of his life. He looks like what he would look like with America. America sees this and gets mad and when she has time to say her goodbyes to everyone and Aspen wants a hug, but she completely ignores him and walks away. She should have been nicer and at least said goodbye one last time.

After this act America makes up for it and once she gets to the airport to wait for the other four girls she is competing with she does something that shows that she can be a humane person. She meets 2 other girls and talks to them for awhile, but then she meets Celeste. Celeste acts like a complete caste 1 which she is 2 but America stays nice to her even though Celeste acts so rude to everyone.

America also does something else that will warm your heart. She stays 20 minutes after when meeting everyone to say high to every person she can say hi to and talk to everyone. She acts so nice to everyone and makes sure that everyone gets to meet her.

American can be rude sometimes but she can also be one of the nicest people you will ever meet. You can love her and hate her at the same time.
